A Regional Approach to Roads...

At the beginning of the Twentieth Century people seldom traveled outside their own county. Today it's common to cross county boundaries every day while commuting between home and job.

Given the high price and low availability of land, today's roads require a well managed, long-term planning approach coordinated at the regional level. The CCC is where this regional planning process occurs.

TThrough the CCC, west central Florida's MPOs work with The Florida Department photo showing cars on U.S. 19of Transportation (FDOT) and other agencies to achieve a common goal - the creation of an affordable, regional plan that fairly prioritizes the transportation needs of all the counties in the region while taking into consideration issues such as air quality and economic impact. While the road system is only one element in the overall regional transportation, it is complex because it also has an effect on the region's economy and the success of transit systems.

Refer to the CCC Regional Roads maps to learn more about planned improvements.
